Solve Apache Cannot Start in Xampp

Posted: 2 March 2011 in IT

A programmer usually have many software to develop the program. I installed Visual Studio, SQL Server 2008, and recently installed XAMPP. This will be a problem because Reporting Services in SQL Server 2008 uses port 80, and Apache also uses port 80. Therefore one must be replaced. Because the port clash, then Apache in XAMPP cannot start.

Apache Port should not be replaced, because it connects directly with the web, that default port uses 80. So we could change the port at SQL Server Reporting Services 2008 to 8080.

Below are describes the steps to solve the problems above:
1. Go to Start – Microsoft SQL Server 2008 – Reporting Services Configuration Manager

2. In my computer, no configuration that I change, click Connect.

3. If it connected, select Web Service URL, then change TCP Port to 8080, then click Advanced button.

4. Select Edit.

5. Change TCP Port to 8080, then click OK.

6. Next, go to the Report Manager URL, then select the Advanced button.

7. Same as before, click the Edit button.

8. Change TPC Port to 8080 too, then click OK.

9. Until this stage, the configuration is complete. Please prove it by running the apache service by click the start button. Whether it successful it will be Running.

10. To run / test APACE Web server, go to your web browser and type http://localhost
It should look like this:

11. To run / test MySQL, go to your web browser and type http://localhost/phpmyadmin
It should look like this:

Enjoy, and Good Luck ^_^
